Defect
In the transfer case of the power transmission system, the structure of the input shaft lock nut is inadequate. Repeated high-speed driving damages this area, causing the drive shaft between the transmission and transfer case to rotate eccentrically. The resulting abnormal vibration applies excessive stress to the transfer case mounting area of the flywheel housing. In the worst case, that mounting area may fracture and the vehicle may become inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the companion flange and lock nut with corrected parts and remove the oil separator. Any components showing damage at this location are to be replaced with non-defective parts.

状況
動力伝達装置の変向機において、入力軸側ロックナット部の構造が不適切なため、高速走 行を繰り返すと、当該部が損傷し、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、変速機と変向機の 間のドライブシャフトの偏芯回転による異常振動によって、フライホイールハウジングの 変向機取り付け部に過大な応力が加わり、最悪の場合、当該取り付け部が折損し走行不能 に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、コンパニオンフランジ及びロックナットを対策品と交換するとともにオイルセパ レータを除去する。また、当該部位において損傷が認められる部品は良品と交換する。
