Filing in context
The Wiring is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 236 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 3 Nissan notifications from 1993 in this archive. For scale, 2,411 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 6 years and 4 months.
Defect
The electrical wiring terminals on the noise filter installed to suppress radio interference in the onboard wireless unit were improperly crimped on certain vehicles. Driving vibration causes these terminals to loosen, increasing electrical resistance and generating heat. In the worst case, a vehicle fire may occur.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the noise filter electrical wiring with the corrected part and reroute the wiring accordingly.
