Issue
On vehicles equipped with a collision mitigation brake system, a defect in the millimeter-wave radar obstacle detection software causes the system to misidentify a preceding vehicle traveling slowly beneath an overpass or similar structure as part of that fixed structure. The system may continue to register an obstacle even after the preceding vehicle has cleared the overpass. As a result, with no actual collision risk present, the multi-information display activates a warning and sounds an alert, followed by gradual then sudden brake application.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the collision mitigation brake system obstacle detection software with the corrected updated software.

状況
衝突被害軽減ブレーキシステム搭載車において、ミリ波レーダーによる障害物検知プログラムが不適切なため、車両前方の歩道橋等の下を低車速で通過している先行車を、歩道橋等と一体の障害物と誤認識してしまい、先行車が歩道橋等を通過した後も歩道橋等と一体の障害物と誤認識し続けることがある。そのため、衝突の可能性がないのに、多重表示モニターに警告表示がされるとともに警告音を発し、緩い制動を経て急制動がかかるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、衝突被害軽減ブレーキシステムの障害物検知プログラムを対策プログラムに書き換える。
