Filing in context
The Exhaust pipe is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 32 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 18 Suzuki notifications from 2017 in this archive. For scale, 3,410 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 month.
Issue
On the exhaust pipe located on the right side of the vehicle, the shape of the exhaust pipe cover is improper. When a rider steps off the footrest while the vehicle is stopped, clothing may contact the exhaust pipe. This may damage the clothing and, in the worst case, cause burns to the lower limbs.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, install a corrected cover over the exhaust pipe.
