Defect
In the transmission of large buses, the shift unit housing may resonate at specific engine speeds under high load, causing cracks to form in the housing. Continued operation allows oil to leak through the cracks. In the worst case, the transmission may seize, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, add a reinforcing bracket to the shift unit and inspect the housing for cracks. If cracks are found, replace the shift unit assembly with a new unit.

状況
大型バスのトランスミッションにおいて、高負荷の特定のエンジン回転で、シフトユニットハウジングが共振し、ハウジングに亀裂が入ることがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、亀裂部よりオイルが漏れ、最悪の場合、トランスミッションが焼き付き、走行不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、シフトユニットに固定金具を追加するとともに、ハウジングの亀裂を点検し、亀裂が生じていた場合はシフトユニット一式を新品に交換する。
