Defect

The electric power steering (EPS) control computer has an improperly configured EPS assist cutoff voltage setting. When the battery is degraded, large steering inputs may cause battery voltage to drop below the EPS assist cutoff threshold. As a result, the EPS warning light illuminates, power steering assist deactivates, and steering effort may increase suddenly.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, reprogram the electric power steering control computer and the engine control computer with the corrected software.

状況

電動パワーステアリング(EPS)制御コンピュータのEPSアシスト停止電圧設定が不適切なため、バッテリが劣化していると、大きなハンドル操作時にバッテリ電圧がEPSアシスト停止電圧以下になることがある。そのため、EPS警告灯が点灯するとともにパワーステアリングのアシスト機能が停止し、急にハンドルの操作力が増大するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、電動パワーステアリング制御コンピュータ及びエンジン制御コンピュータを対策プログラムに書換える。
