Defect

In the ball joint connecting the lower arm and knuckle arm of the front suspension, inadequate management of the parts handling process after the knuckle arm and ball joint are assembled allows handling equipment to contact and damage the ball joint's rubber boot. Grease leaks through the damaged boot, causing premature wear of the ball joint. In the worst case, the ball joint may separate from the knuckle arm, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the rubber boot on the affected ball joint. If damage is found, replace the ball joint with a conforming part.

状況

前輪緩衝装置のロアアームとナックルアームを連結しているボールジョイントにおいて、ナックルアームとボールジョイントを締結した後の部品搬送工程の管理が不適切なため、搬送設備がボールジョイントのゴム製ブーツ部と干渉して、ブーツが損傷することがある。そのため、ブーツ損傷部からグリースが漏れて、ボールジョイントが早期に摩耗し、最悪の場合、ボールジョイントがナックルアームから外れ、走行不能になるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、当該ゴム製ブーツを点検し、損傷のあるものはボールジョイントを良品と交換する。
