Defect
Due to a manufacturing defect, internal component dimensions in the lift gate latch are incorrect, preventing the locking mechanism from operating normally. As a result, the lift gate may not lock completely. In the worst case, the lift gate may open while the vehicle is in motion.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the lift gate latch with a non-defective part.
