Defect
The yellow warning beacon fitted to road maintenance vehicles uses a main gear to rotate the reflector. Due to manufacturing variation in the main gear, the gear may contract at low temperatures, eliminating the clearance between the main gear inner diameter and the bulb socket boss. When this occurs, the main gear and reflector seize and the beacon ceases to flash.
Corrective action
Replace the yellow warning beacon assembly on all vehicles with a corrected part.
