Defect

On diesel-powered vehicles, the engine compartment sound insulation material is improperly secured. Depending on the routing angle of the brake pipes, the pipes may push the insulation material toward the engine. Continued operation in this condition allows engine heat to soften the insulation, causing it to migrate closer to the turbocharger. In the worst case, the turbocharger's heat may ignite and burn the insulation material.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, add a bracket to secure the sound insulation material. If partial burn damage to the insulator or heat damage to the brake pipes is found, replace the affected insulator or brake pipes with new parts.

状況

ディーゼルエンジン搭載車において、エンジンルーム内の遮音材の固定方法が不適切なため、ブレーキ配管の組付け角度によっては、ブレーキ配管により遮音材がエンジン側に押されているものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、エンジンの熱により遮音材が軟化して更にエンジン過給器に近づくものがあり、最悪の場合、過給器の熱により遮音材が焼損するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、当該遮音材を固定するブラケットを追加するとともに、インシュレータの部分焼損、または、ブレーキ配管の溶損が認められる場合は、当該インシュレータ、または、当該ブレーキ配管を新品と交換する。
