Filing in context
The Seat Belt is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 55 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 54 Isuzu notifications from 2012 in this archive. For scale, 4,074 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 month.
Defect
On route buses, an incorrect anchor nut is used at the seat belt anchor mounting point above the driver's seat. Forcing the anchor bolt into the mismatched nut damages the bolt threads. Continued use allows the bolt to loosen and, in the worst case, may cause the seat belt to detach from the anchor mounting point.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the seat belt anchor nut for correct type. If an incorrect nut is found, replace the anchor bracket retaining the nut with a genuine part and replace the anchor bolt with a new part.
