Defect
The clearance between the ratchet pawl and bracket of the foot-operated parking brake is set incorrectly. Grease applied to the resin-molded ratchet pawl causes the resin to swell, and exposure to direct sunlight during parking causes further expansion. This allows the ratchet pawl end to contact the bracket, increasing sliding resistance. As a result, the ratchet pawl may bind when the parking brake pedal is depressed, and the parking brake may fail to hold the vehicle.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the complete parking brake pedal assembly with a corrected part incorporating a revised ratchet pawl.

状況
踏込み式駐車ブレーキの構成部品であるラチェットポールとブラケットとの隙間設定が不適切なため、樹脂成型されたラチェットポールに塗布したグリースで樹脂が膨潤し、炎天下の駐車時に更に膨張するとラチェットポール端部とブラケットが干渉して摺動抵抗が増加するものがある。そのため、駐車ブレーキペダルを踏んでもラチェットポールの動きが渋り、駐車ブレーキが保持出来なくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、対策品のラチェットポールを組付けた駐車ブレーキペダル一式と交換する。
