Defect
In the rear drum brake assembly, the link plate that returns the brake shoe to its home position when the brake is released has insufficient strength. Repeatedly stopping the vehicle using only the parking brake subjects the link plate to unintended loads, which may cause it to crack. Continued use can cause the link plate to fracture, with fragments becoming wedged between the brake shoe and drum. In the worst case, the rear wheels may lock, compromising driving stability.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the rear drum brake link plate with a corrected part.

状況
制動装置の後輪ドラムブレーキにおいて、ブレーキを解除する際にブレーキシューを定位置に引き戻すリンクプレートの強度が不足しているため、駐車ブレーキのみを使用して車両を停止する操作を繰り返し行うと想定外の荷重が入力され、当該リンクプレートに亀裂が発生する場合がある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、リンクプレートが折損し、破片がブレーキシューとドラムの間に噛み込み、最悪の場合、後輪がロックして走行安定性を損なうおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、後輪ドラムブレーキのリンクプレートを対策品と交換する。
