Filing in context
The Headlamp is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 49 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 16 Suzuki notifications from 2007 in this archive. For scale, 2,880 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 9 months.
Defect
The headlamp assembly has an improper structure that restricts heat dissipation. During operation, heat from the bulb and solar radiation causes the reflector to deform, tilting the bulb and shifting the optical axis. In the worst case, the solder at the socket melts, the lead wire pulls free, and the headlamp goes dark.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the headlamp and socket with corrected parts, and replace the bulb with a new unit.
