Defect

On turbocharged engines, the intercooler mounting bolts on certain vehicles were not tightened to the specified torque. Continued operation may cause these bolts to loosen and fall free. In the worst case, a fallen bolt may become lodged in the throttle linkage that controls engine speed, preventing engine speed from decreasing when the accelerator pedal is released.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, tighten the intercooler mounting bolts to the specified torque.
