Defect
On low-floor rear-tandem-axle drive vehicles, the companion flange at the drive pinion of the rear-rear axle final reduction gear is manufactured from material with insufficient hardness. Repeated loads from hard acceleration cause the contact surface between the companion flange and the outer bearing to wear, reducing the clamping force of the companion flange nut. Continued use allows the nut to loosen and, in the worst case, the companion flange may pull free, causing the propeller shaft between the rear-front axle and rear-rear axle to detach.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the companion flange and companion flange nut with corrected parts and increase the specified tightening torque for the nut.

状況
低床式後２軸駆動車の後後軸用終減速機において、ドライブピニオン部コンパニオンフランジの材質硬度が不足しているため、急発進等の負荷の繰り返しにより、コンパニオンフランジのアウターベアリングとの接触面が摩耗し、コンパニオンフランジナットの締付け力が低下するものがある。そのため、このまま使用を続けると当該ナットが緩み、最悪の場合、コンパニオンフランジが抜け出し、後前軸と後後軸間の推進軸が脱落するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、コンパニオンフランジおよびコンパニオンフランジナットを対策品と交換するとともに、当該ナットの締付けトルクを増大する。
