Defect

The retaining bracket crimp securing the ball joint that connects the upper arm to the knuckle in the front suspension is insufficient. Continued use in this condition may damage the joint and, in the worst case, cause the ball joint to separate from the upper arm, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the left and right upper ball joints and replace any unit with an insufficiently crimped retaining bracket with a non-defective part.
