Defect
On vehicles equipped with a power take-off (PTO) unit driven by the engine flywheel, the brake pipes are routed improperly, causing some brake pipes to contact the engine frame mounting area. Continued use in this condition may damage the brake pipe, causing brake fluid to leak. In the worst case, braking force may be reduced.
Corrective action
Inspect all vehicles. On vehicles with insufficient clearance between the brake pipe and the engine frame mounting area, correct the routing to establish adequate clearance. On vehicles with a damaged brake pipe, replace it with a corrected part.
