Filing in context
This is the only filing in the archive that cites the Brake Pressure Control and Transmission System as the affected component. This filing is one of 13 Isuzu notifications from 1999 in this archive. For scale, 3,637 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 3 years and 7 months.
Defect
On vehicles equipped with a power take-off (PTO) unit driven by the engine flywheel, the brake pipes are routed improperly, causing some brake pipes to contact the engine frame mounting area. Continued use in this condition may damage the brake pipe, causing brake fluid to leak. In the worst case, braking force may be reduced.
Corrective action
Inspect all vehicles. On vehicles with insufficient clearance between the brake pipe and the engine frame mounting area, correct the routing to establish adequate clearance. On vehicles with a damaged brake pipe, replace it with a corrected part.
