Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 5 manufacturers: Hino, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Nissan & Nissan Diesel.
The Other (frame/body) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 42 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 27 Hino notifications from 2004 in this archive. For scale, 3,481 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 5 years.
Issue
In the CFRP cargo bed floor, the internal rib geometry is improperly designed, leaving the floor with insufficient strength. Under load, cracks may develop in the skin panel on the underside of the floor. If use continues, the floor may deform under load, causing cargo to lean rather than stand upright, or making it difficult to open and close the side gate.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the floor. Where cracks are present, replace the floor with a corrected part. Where no cracks are present, bond a reinforcing plate to the underside of the floor.
