Defect
The impeller of the low-pressure fuel pump is a resin component manufactured under incorrect molding conditions, resulting in insufficient resin density. This causes the impeller to swell and deform when exposed to fuel. The deformed impeller contacts the pump cover, causing the fuel pump to malfunction. In the worst case, the engine may stall while driving.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the low-pressure fuel pump with a corrected part.
