Defect
On the fall-detection engine cut-off device (bank angle sensor), improper molding operations and mold management during manufacture of the sensor holder result in insufficient sealing of the holder. When water enters the sensor during rain riding or similar conditions, it causes a short circuit on the internal circuit board. The sensor then incorrectly detects a fall condition and may shut the engine off while the vehicle is in motion.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the bank angle sensor with a conforming unit.
