Defect
On hybrid vehicles, an incorrect program in the engine control computer may prevent the engine from restarting when the driver accelerates immediately after the engine stops during driving. This causes the engine warning lamp to illuminate and results in reduced acceleration. Continued operation may deplete the battery charge and, in the worst case, render the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the engine control computer with the corrected software.
