Defect
On the gas-filled damper stay used to support the rear gate, the paint applied to the end cap of the outer tube is improper. In coastal or salt-exposure areas, salt causes corrosion to develop on this area. Continued use allows the corrosion to progress, causing the outer tube to swell and the end cap to crack. When the rear gate is subsequently opened, the outer tube may burst. In the worst case, bystanders may be injured.
Corrective action
Replace the damper stay on all vehicles with a corrected part.

状況
リヤゲートのガス封入式ダンパーステーにおいて、外筒のエンドキャップ部の塗装が不適切なため、塩害地域の塩分の影響で腐食することがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、腐食が進行し、外筒が膨らみ、エンドキャップが割れ、リヤゲートを開く際に外筒が破裂し、最悪の場合、周囲の人が負傷するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該ダンパーステーを対策品と交換する。
