Defect
In the engines of medium-duty trucks and large- and medium-duty buses, the weld joint between the internal arm and shaft that actuates the turbocharger variable nozzle has insufficient strength. Actuator operation twists the weld joint, causing the variable nozzle to shift out of position. This reduces intake air volume, leading to loss of engine output and unstable engine speed. In the worst case, the engine may stall during driving and be unable to restart.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the turbocharger with a corrected part.

状況
中型トラック、大型・中型バスの原動機において、ターボチャージャの可変ノズルを作動させるインターナルアームとシャフトの溶接部の強度が不足しているため、アクチュエータの駆動により当該溶接部がねじられ、可変ノズルの位置がずれることがある。そのため、吸入空気量が不足して、原動機の出力低下や回転が不安定となり、最悪の場合、走行中エンストし再始動できなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、ターボチャージャを対策品に交換する。
