Defect
On heavy-duty trucks equipped with a 12-speed mechanical automatic transmission, oil carried in the compressed air supplied by the air compressor oxidizes and degrades, forming a black adhesive deposit. This deposit can cause the air pressure governor sliding surface of the air dryer and the main valve sliding surface of the shift cylinder to seize. Continued operation in this condition may result in air leaks from the shift cylinder and shift malfunctions. In the worst case, gear shifting becomes impossible and the vehicle may become inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles: add a glass filter to the oil separator and air dryer; replace the multi-protection valve with a new part; clean the air pressure governor and the transmission control air lines; and distribute a supplementary maintenance note and owner's manual addendum describing oil separator filter maintenance. Additionally, inspect the reducing valve, supply valve, and shift cylinder air supply ports, and replace any components showing oil contamination with new parts. On vehicles where an oil separator cannot be added due to modifications, replace the air compressor with a low-oil-emission unit and replace the air duct with the appropriate part; on short-cab vehicles, also replace the power steering oil pump with the appropriate part. Furthermore, issue a direct mail notice reminding owners to ensure timely replacement of scheduled air dryer maintenance parts, including desiccant, filters, and rubber seals/packings.

状況
１２段機械式自動変速機を搭載した大型トラックにおいて、エアコンプレッサから供給される圧縮空気中に含まれる油分が酸化劣化して黒色粘着物が生成されるため、エアドライヤのエアプレッシャーガバナ摺動部やシフトシリンダのメインバルブ摺動部が黒色粘着物により固着する場合がある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、シフトシリンダからのエア漏れや作動不良等が生じ、最悪の場合、変速が出来なくなり走行不能になるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、オイルセパレータ、エアドライヤにガラスフィルタを追加するとともに、マルチプロテクションバルブを新品に交換し、エアプレッシャーガバナとトランスミッションコントロール用エア配管を清掃するとともに、オイルセパレータのフィルタメンテナンスについて記載したメンテナンスノート及び取扱説明書の追補版を配布する。 また、レジューシングバルブ、サプライバルブ、シフトシリンダのエア供給口を点検し、油分による汚れが認められた場合は新品に交換する。 なお、改造等によりオイルセパレータが追加出来ない車両については、エアコンプレッサを油分排出量の少ないものに交換するとともに、エアダクトを適応品に交換し、ショートキャブ車についてはパワーステアリングオイルポンプも適応品に交換する。 更に、ダイレクトメールにて、エアドライヤの定期交換部品（乾燥剤、フィルタ、ゴム・パッキン類）の確実な交換実施について注意喚起を行う。
