Defect
On heavy trucks, the internal structure of the wiring section of the engine EGR differential pressure sensor is improperly designed. Vehicle vibration causes the wires inside the protective tube to contact each other, wearing through the insulation. Continued use allows the insulation to peel away, and in the worst case, the sensor wiring suffers a broken wire or short circuit. This illuminates the engine warning light and disables EGR operation, causing exhaust emissions to exceed the specified limit. (EGR — Exhaust Gas Recirculation: a system that recirculates exhaust gas into the combustion chamber to suppress temperature rise and reduce nitrogen oxide formation.)
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the EGR differential pressure sensor with a corrected part.

状況
大型トラックにおいて、エンジンのＥＧＲ差圧センサーの配線部の内部構造が不適切なため、車両振動などを受けて、保護チューブ内で配線同士が接触し、被覆が摩耗するものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、被覆が剥がれ、最悪の場合、センサーの配線が断線または短絡することで、エンジン警告灯が点灯するとともにＥＧＲが作動しなくなるため、排出ガス値が基準値を超えるおそれがある。 ＥＧＲ（排気ガス再循環装置）：排気ガスを燃焼室に循環させることにより、排気ガス温度の上昇を抑え、窒素酸化物の生成を抑制するもの
改善措置
全車両、ＥＧＲ差圧センサーを対策品と交換する。
