Defect
On heavy-duty trucks, if the fuel filter is not replaced at the specified intervals and the fuel tank is not cleaned regularly, contaminants in the fuel can wear the injector seat, increasing fuel injection volume. This raises exhaust temperature, causing the right rear exhaust manifold to crack and exhaust gas to leak, which may scorch the plastic rear cover.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, install a heat shield on the right rear exhaust manifold. If that manifold shows a crack, replace it with a new part. Additionally, notify all owners by direct mail of this failure mode and urge strict adherence to the scheduled fuel filter replacement and fuel tank cleaning intervals.

状況
大型トラックにおいて、燃料フィルターの定期交換、燃料タンクの定期的な清掃が不適切な場合、燃料中に不純物が混入するとインジェクタのシート部が摩耗し、燃料噴射量が増大することがある。そのため、排気温度が上昇して右後側の排気マニホールドが亀裂し、排気ガスが漏れて樹脂製のリヤカバーを焼損するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、右後側の排気マニホールドに遮熱板を装着するとともに、当該マニホールドに亀裂が認められる場合は新品と交換する。 また、各ユーザーにダイレクトメールにて不具合事例を示して、燃料フィルターの定期交換、燃料タンクの定期的な清掃の徹底について注意喚起を行う。
