Filing in context
The Exhaust Emission Reduction Device is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 21 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 16 Honda notifications from 2008 in this archive. Defect
The engine control unit software that monitors catalytic converter degradation in the exhaust system is defective. During degradation detection, the oxygen concentration in the catalytic converter may become excessive, causing an increase in nitrogen oxide emissions. As a result, exhaust emission levels may exceed the Safety Standards.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the engine control unit software.
