Defect

The fastening bolt on the universal joint connecting the steering shaft to the steering gear box was insufficiently tightened on some vehicles. Performing a stationary steering maneuver causes loosening at the joint. Continued use produces abnormal noise and, in the worst case, the joint separates and loss of steering control results.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the universal joint with the corrected part and torque the fastening bolt to the specified value.

状況

ステアリングシャフトとギヤボックスを連結しているユニバーサルジョイントの締結ボルトに締め付けが不足しているものがある。そのため、据え切り操作を行うと連結部に緩みが生じ、そのままの状態で使用を続けると異音が発生し、最悪の場合、連結部が外れてかじ取り操作ができなくなるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、当該ユニバーサルジョイントを対策品に交換するとともに、締結ボルトを規定トルクで締め付ける。
