Defect

On vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, the shift cable mounting bracket has insufficient strength. Repeated shift operations using excessive force may cause the bracket to crack. Continued use after cracking may result in bracket breakage, rendering shift operation impossible. In the worst case, the vehicle may become inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, add a deformation-suppression plate to the upper portion of the shift cable mounting bracket. Additionally, inspect the bracket and replace any deformed bracket with a new unit.
