Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Nissan & Nissan Diesel.
The Fuel injection system is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 7 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 50 Nissan notifications from 2004 in this archive. For scale, 2,774 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 4 years and 3 months.
Defect
The electrical wiring for the engine fuel injection pump control is routed improperly. Vibration occurring during engine shutdown and normal operation causes the wiring to develop a broken wire. As a result, a warning lamp illuminates and flashes, and fuel injection timing is retarded, causing exhaust emissions to exceed the applicable standard.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the wiring. Repair any damage found, and add wiring and securing brackets.
