Defect
In the pneumatic parking brake system, the air chamber's air-relief mechanism is improperly designed, allowing mud and water to enter the chamber. This blocks the vent hole and causes the piston O-ring to twist, allowing air to leak into the spring chamber. The resulting pressure buildup in the spring chamber prevents the piston from returning fully, leaving the parking brake incompletely released. In the worst case, brake fade may occur. (Note: This notification adds newly affected vehicles to the recall filed on August 1, 2002, as Notification No. 859.)
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the air chamber with the corrected part.

状況
空気式駐車制動装置において、エアチャンバの空気逃がし機構が不適切なため、チャン バ内に泥水等が侵入することがあり、通気孔がふさがるとともにピストン部のOリングが 捩れてスプリング室に空気が漏れ、スプリング室内部の圧力が上がり、ピストンの戻りが 不十分となって駐車ブレーキが十分解除されなくなり、最悪の場合、フェード現象を起こ すおそれがある。 (備考) 本届出は、平成14年8月1日「届出859」のリコール届出にあらたに対象車を追加す るものである。
改善措置
全車両、エアチャンバを対策品と交換する。
