Defect
On vehicles equipped with a front independent suspension, the water intrusion prevention structure at the inner bearing section of the front wheel hub is inadequate. Muddy water enters the bearing, causing rust and wear that produce vibration and abnormal noise. Continued use in this condition may, in the worst case, cause the bearing to fail and impair driving stability.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, install an additional cover to reduce water exposure at the inner bearing section of the front wheel hub, and replace the oil seal in that area with a corrected part. If water intrusion is confirmed inside the bearing, replace the bearing with a new unit. (Note: On four-wheel-drive vehicles, the knuckle must also be replaced to install the cover. Because supply of corrected parts requires additional lead time, all owners or users will be notified of the defect as an interim measure, and corrected parts will be installed as soon as they become available.)

状況
前軸独立懸架車の走行装置において、前輪ハブ内側軸受け部の水浸入防止構造が不適切な 為、当該軸受け内部に泥水が浸入して錆付き・摩耗が生じることにより振動・異音を発生 し、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、最悪の場合、当該軸受けが破損し、走行安定性が 損なわれるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、前輪ハブ内側軸受け部の被水量を減少させる為のカバーを追加すると共に当該部 オイルシールを対策品に交換する。また、軸受け内部に水浸入が認められるものは、ベア リングを新品に交換する。 (なお、4輪駆動車は当該カバーを装着する為に、ナックルも交換するが、対策品の供給 に時間を要することから、当面の暫定処置として全ての所有者または使用者に不具合内容 を通知し、部品が整い次第、対策品と交換する。)
