Defect
In police vehicles, the wire cable that extracts the vehicle speed signal from the manual transmission is routed improperly, reducing its durability. The cable may break, disabling the speed enforcement equipment and causing the speedometer to stop functioning.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, remove the wire cable and vehicle speed signal splitter, then replace the speedometer board and harness with corrected parts. Alternatively, add a direction converter at the manual transmission speed signal output port and replace the wire cable and speed signal splitter with corrected parts.
