Defect
An inadequate manufacturing process for the electrode plates used in the cells of the high-voltage battery pack modules allowed electrode plate fragments generated during production to adhere to the cells. Repeated battery charging may cause an internal short circuit within the module, triggering a battery warning. In the worst case, the battery may overheat abnormally and lead to a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the battery pack or module with a conforming unit. Until parts are available, retain the vehicle and replace the parts as soon as they become available.
