Defect
The vehicle master control unit, which governs wiper operation, contains an improperly configured program. When the wipers are operating in intermittent mode and have stopped at the park position, switching the wiper switch to restart them may cause arc discharge at the wiper relay contact points, resulting in a short circuit. The resulting overcurrent in the wiper motor power supply circuit may blow the fuse, disabling the wipers and preventing the driver from maintaining adequate forward visibility.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, the vehicle master control unit is reprogrammed with the corrected/updated software.

状況
窓ふき器において、ワイパーの作動を制御する車両マスター制御ユニットのプログラムが不適切なため、ワイパーが間欠モードで作動中に定位置で停止した時に、ワイパースイッチを操作し再起動すると、ワイパーリレーの接点部でアーク放電が発生し短絡することがある。そのため、ワイパーモーターの電源回路に過電流が流れてヒューズが溶断し、ワイパーが不作動となり必要な視野を確保できなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、車両マスター制御ユニットのプログラムを対策プログラムに書き換える。
