The Rearview Mirror / Camera Monitor is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 2 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 39 Mitsubishi notifications from 2022 in this archive. Defect
The navigation system control software contains a configuration error, producing two failure modes: (1) At startup, internal data processing may not complete, causing the system to repeatedly restart. (2) If system communication is interrupted by a power fluctuation or similar event, the recovery routine does not execute, preventing the display from switching to the camera image and resulting in a black screen. In either condition, the camera image for front and left-side proximity confirmation is not displayed on the LCD screen, and the vehicle may no longer conform to Safety Standards Article 44 (rearview mirror and equivalent device standards).
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the navigation system control software to the corrected specification.
