Defect
In the electric power steering system, the manufacturing conditions for the control unit terminal section are incorrect, leaving certain circuits without proper insulation and causing unintended continuity. This illuminates a warning light and disables the power steering assist function, resulting in a significant increase in steering effort.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the steering gear box with a conforming unit.

状況
電動パワーステアリングにおいて、コントロールユニットの端子部の製造条件が不適切なため、回路が絶縁されずに導通するものがある。そのため、警告灯が点灯するとともにパワーステアリングのアシスト機能が停止し、ステアリングの操作力が増大するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、ステアリングギアボックスを良品に交換する。
