Defect
The engine control computer program is incorrect. When shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, if the transmission goes to neutral instead of engaging 2nd gear and the throttle is opened, the engine over-revs. If 2nd gear is then engaged without disengaging the clutch, excessive force is applied to the drivetrain. This may cause abnormal elongation of the drive chain and, in the worst case, the chain may detach or break, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the engine control computer with a corrected/revised part that includes an over-rev prevention control. Additionally, inspect the drive chain for abnormal elongation; if abnormal elongation is found, replace the drive chain, engine sprocket, and rear sprocket with new units. Because preparation of remedy parts requires time, owners will be notified of the defect and advised to take precautions; a second notification to bring the vehicle in for service will follow once parts are available.

状況
エンジン制御コンピュータのプログラムが不適切なため、１速から２速への変速時にギアが２速に入らずニュートラルになった時に、スロットルを開けるとエンジンが空ぶかし状態となり、その状態でクラッチを切らずに２速に入れ直すと、動力伝達装置に過大な力がかかる。そのため、ドライブチェーンが異常に伸び、最悪の場合、外れるもしくは切れて走行不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、エンジン制御コンピュータを、過回転防止制御を追加した対策品と交換する。また、ドライブチェーンの異常伸びの有無を点検し、異常伸びが認められた場合は、ドライブチェーン、エンジンスプロケット、リヤスプロケットを新品に交換する。 なお、改善措置用部品の準備に時間を要することから、使用者に不具合の内容を通知して注意喚起を行い、準備が整い次第、再度入庫の通知をする。
