Defect
The engine control unit software is incorrectly programmed, preventing proper control of ignition timing, fuel injection, and boost pressure under high intake air temperature conditions. This causes abnormal combustion, which raises cylinder pressure to excessive levels and can fracture the connecting rod. In the worst case, the cylinder block is damaged, engine oil leaks, and a vehicle fire may occur.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the engine control unit software.

状況
原動機において、エンジンコントロールユニットのプログラムが不適切なため、吸入空気温度が高い状態で点火時期や燃料噴射、過給圧が適正に制御ができず、異常燃焼を起こすことがある。そのため、シリンダー内の圧力が異常に上昇しコンロッドが折損、最悪の場合、シリンダーブロックが損傷してエンジンオイルが漏れ、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、エンジンコントロールユニットの制御プログラムを書き換える。
