Defect
The control software for the electric power steering (EPS) control computer is incorrect. When the vehicle is driven at high speed over rumble strips installed for lane departure warning, the computer may misinterpret the resulting vibration and shut down EPS assist. This causes the steering to become heavy.
Corrective action
On vehicles where the control computer software can be updated, reprogram the software. On all other vehicles, replace the entire steering column assembly with one incorporating a corrected/revised part control computer.

状況
電動式パワーステアリング制御用コンピュータのプログラムが不適切なため、車線逸脱警告用に凹凸を施した路面を高速で走行すると、路面からの振動を誤判定し、パワステ機能が停止することにより、ハンドルが重くなるおそれがある。
改善措置
当該制御用コンピュータのプログラムが修正可能な車両についてはプログラムを修正する。その他の車両については、制御用コンピュータの対策品が組み込まれたステアリングコラム全体を交換する。
