Defect

In the spring-type parking brake chamber, the water-exclusion cap is improperly installed, allowing water to enter the spring cavity and cause the spring to rust. The spring may then fracture and damage the diaphragm, causing an air leak. In the worst case, the parking brake applies while the vehicle is in motion. (Note: This matter was previously reported under Recall Notification No. 1715, dated September 5, 2006. Because certain vehicle models were omitted from that campaign, additional affected vehicles are now being added under this new notification.)

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the parking brake chamber. If rust is found inside the spring cavity, replace the chamber with a serviceable unit. Replace the water-exclusion cap with a new part on all vehicles.

状況

スプリング式駐車制動装置において、水浸入防止キャップをはめ込む作業が不適切なため、スプリング室に水が浸入し、スプリングが錆びることがある。そのため、スプリングが折損し、ダイヤフラムが損傷してエアが漏れ、最悪の場合、走行中駐車ブレーキが作動するおそれがある。 (備考)本案件は、リコール「届出番号1715(平成18年9月5日)」にて届出を行ったものですが、対象車種の選定漏れがあったため、対象車両を追加して、新たに届出をするものです。

改善措置

全車両、駐車ブレーキチャンバを点検し、スプリング室内部に錆のあるものは、当該チャンバを良品と交換する。また、全車両水浸入防止キャップを新品と交換する。
