Defect

The clamp bracket that secures the transmission shift cable at its midpoint is improperly designed, causing incorrect clamp installation angles that locally bend the cable on affected vehicles. Continued use causes the internal wire of the cable to fracture from fatigue, resulting in loss of shift operation.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the clamp bracket with the corrected part. On vehicles where the cable has been locally bent, also replace the cable with a new one. Because full supply of the corrected parts will take time, as an interim measure inspect the clamp installation angle; if the cable is severely bent, replace the cable with a new one and correct the clamp angle.

状況

トランスミッション変速用ケーブルの取りまわしにおいて、当該ケーブルを中間でクラン プする固定金具の構造が不適切なため、クランプの取付角度の不良によって、当該ケーブ ルが局部的に屈曲しているものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、当 該ケーブル内部のワイヤが疲労折損し、変速操作が出来なくなるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、当該部の固定金具を対策品と交換する。また、ケーブルが局部的に屈曲していた ものについては、ケーブルを新品と交換する。なお、対策品の全数供給に時間を要するた め、当面の暫定措置として、当該固定金具部のクランプの取付角度を点検し、ケーブルが 極端に屈曲している場合は、ケーブルを新品と交換すると共に、クランプの取付角度を正 しく修正する。
