Defect
In the brake stop lamp switch wiring of vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, the wiring circuit is improperly designed, causing the switch contact to generate excessive heat and melt the resin components. In the worst case, the switch may fail to operate, preventing the brake stop lamps from illuminating.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, add a conversion wiring harness to the circuit to restore proper configuration and replace the affected switch with a new unit.
