Defect
During automatic transmission lockup operation, lubrication to the 2nd gear is insufficient. On roads where sustained 5th-gear lockup driving is possible, the lack of lubrication causes abnormal heat buildup on the 2nd gear tooth surfaces, reducing gear hardness. Continued use may cause the gear to fail and, in the worst case, the broken gear may mesh into adjacent gears, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, check the odometer reading. On vehicles that meet or exceed the mileage threshold, inspect the 2nd counter gear tooth surfaces for heat discoloration; if discoloration is present, replace the complete automatic transmission with a corrected unit. On vehicles below the mileage threshold, and on vehicles above the threshold where no tooth surface discoloration is found, install an additional oil feed line for 2nd gear lubrication.

状況
自動変速機のロックアップ機構作動時に2速ギヤの潤滑が不足しているため、5速ロッ クアップ作動状態を持続して走行できる道路環境の場合、2速ギヤへの潤滑不足から当該 ギヤの歯面が異常発熱し、ギヤの硬度が低下するものがある。そのため、そのまま使用を 続けると、当該ギヤが破損し、最悪の場合、破損したギヤが他のギヤに噛みこみ走行不能 となるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、走行距離を確認し、判定基準以上の走行距離のものはカウンタ2速ギヤの歯面の 焼け状態を点検し、歯面が焼けているものは自動変速機一式を対策品と交換する。また、 判定基準未満の走行距離のもの、及び歯面が焼けていないものは、2速ギヤ潤滑用オイル 配管を追加で取り付ける。
