Filing in context
The Stop Lamp is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 7 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 9 Daihatsu notifications from 2017 in this archive. For scale, 1,251 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 years and 8 months.
Defect
The high-mount stop lamp is improperly designed and cannot fully absorb thermal expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes. This may cause cracks to develop at the lamp's welded joints. Continued use allows rainwater and other moisture to enter the lamp interior, and in the worst case, the lamp may fail to illuminate.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the high-mount stop lamp with the corrected part.
