Defect
The front passenger airbag inflator was manufactured with inadequate moisture protection for the propellant. Repeated exposure to temperature and humidity cycling causes the propellant to degrade. As a result, the inflator housing may rupture during airbag deployment.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the passenger airbag module with a corrected part. If parts are unavailable, the interim measure is to disable the passenger airbag function and display a warning on the passenger sun visor indicating that the airbag is inactive.

状況
助手席用エアバッグのインフレータ(膨張装置)において、ガス発生剤の吸湿防止が不適切なため、温度および湿度変化の繰り返しによりガス発生剤が劣化することがある。このため、エアバッグ展開時にインフレータ容器が破損するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、助手席用エアバッグモジュールを対策品に交換する。 なお、部品が供給できない場合には、暫定措置として、助手席用エアバッグの機能を停止し、助手席サンバイザ部に当該エアバッグが作動しない旨の警告を表示する。
