Filing in context
The Turn Signal Indicator is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 7 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 54 Nissan notifications from 2010 in this archive. For scale, 1,274 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 7 months.
Defect
The polishing process for the fixed-contact substrate in the turn signal combination switch is improper, leaving the contact surfaces roughened. Wear debris generated through normal turn signal operation accumulates on these surfaces. When the switch is subsequently operated, the contacts may fail to conduct, causing the turn signals to stop functioning.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the combination switch assembly with a non-defective unit.
