Defect
The clamping bolt securing the universal joint that connects the steering shaft to the steering gearbox may be insufficiently tightened. Performing a stationary steering operation may cause the bolt to loosen, producing abnormal noise at the joint. Continued use allows the joint engagement to shift out of alignment, which may result in loss of normal steering control.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, tighten the clamping bolt to the specified torque.

状況
ステアリングシャフトとギヤボックスを連結しているユニバーサルジョイントの締結ボルトの締め付けが不足しているものがある。そのため、据え切り操作を行うと当該ボルトが緩んで連結部から異音が発生し、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、連結部の噛み合いがずれて正常にかじ取り操作ができなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、締結ボルトを規定トルクで締め付ける。
