Defect

During the fuel tank manufacturing process, the bolts securing the fuel gauge to the tank were overtorqued, causing significant deformation of the gasket. Subsequent swelling from fuel exposure has deformed the gasket further. The compromised gasket seal at the bolt locations allows fuel to leak.

Corrective action

Replace the affected gasket and mounting bolts on all vehicles with corrected parts, and torque the mounting bolts to the specified value.
